Identify the outcome

Start with what you want the tool to change: drying time, ease of styling, storage, or convenience. A long list of modes does not matter if none of them addresses your problem. Be especially cautious with dramatic claims about permanent results.

Check what is actually documented

Separate manufacturer specifications from marketing language and personal testimonials. Look for clear instructions, limitations, relevant warnings, warranty details, and an understandable return policy. If a device makes medical or therapeutic claims, look for appropriate evidence rather than relying on before-and-after images.

Calculate effort per use

Count setup, cleaning, charging, replacement heads, and storage. The tool you can use comfortably and consistently may offer more everyday value than an elaborate device that stays in its box.

Protect your flexibility

Avoid buying accessories or consumables in bulk before you know the device works for you. Check whether a product requires proprietary replacements and whether those replacements are likely to remain available.
